Welsh Mountain Pony

This is Ginger, she is a Welsh Mountain Pony

 

History

The Welsh Mountain Pony is one of the most perfectly proportioned breed of all the horse breeds. This pony has been used to improve the other native breeds. They also have very powerful hocks and the harsh terrain was also responsible for the bent front knee. They are mainly used for driving and riding. The Welsh Mountain Pony originates from Wales. They are very popular outside of Wales. It has been exported to Europe, the United States, New Zealand and Australia.
Conformation Small clean-cut head, tapering to the muzzle, with bold eyes, small pointed ears and prominent, open nostrils. Long well-carried neck with long, sloping shoulders. Deep girth and a strong muscular back, well-sprung, ribs and strong loins; lengthy, fine hindquarters with the tail well set on and carried gaily. They have good strong limbs, with long, strong forearm, well-developed knee, large, flat hocks and well-shaped feet, of dense, hard horn.
